College football in 2020 takes another big blow. Five Notre Dame players have tested positive for Covid, with six more in quarantine through contact tracing protocols. Football practice was cancelled on Thursday with another round of tests scheduled for Friday.

The Big Ten is ready to “pull the plug” on the 2020 football season. The conference has gauged interest of power 5 conferences about cancelling the season. Several sources have said that a postponement or cancellation of the football season is inevitable. Football in 2020 seems unlikely.

The Mid-American Conference is the first FBS school to cancel it’s 2020 football season. The 12 team conference intends to try and play a football schedule in the spring of 2021. Not a good sign that we will have football in 2020.

The ACC has announced that Notre Dame has joined the ACC schedule for the 11 game 2020 season. They will play 10 conference games as well as one non-conference game this season. This news came after conferences announced they were planning conference only schedules due to Covid fears. Smart move for Notre Dame.
